Abandoning Afghanistan

Abandoning Afghanistan is a verbatim theatre project. Following Grenfell in the Words of Survivors, KPPL is collaborating again with writer Gillian Slovo on a new stage piece charting the western withdrawal from Afghanistan that left the Taliban in control, told through the words of those who experienced the rapid evacuation. The particular focus is on Afghan nationals employed by the west who were forced to abandon their homes and flee to any country who would take them. The project aims to share an understanding of the western complicity in the story of Afghanistan with special reference to events since 9/11 and to give voice to the Afghan diaspora.
